U.S. NATIONAL SKI & SNOWBOARD HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM, INC. RECEIVES A GRANT TO SUPPORT NEW HANDS-ON-HERITAGE CHILDREN’S EXHIBIT
New Hands-on-Heritage Children’s Exhibit Scheduled for Fall 2024

ISHPEMING, MI – The U.S. National Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. received a grant from The Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation to cover a portion of the expenses for the museum’s new Hands-on-Heritage Children’s Exhibit. The target group for this project is the nation’s youngest learners and their families. The Hands-on-Heritage Children’s Exhibit and theatre area is designed to attract children from around the country and locally in Ishpeming to learn about our skiing heritage in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

“We are thrilled to receive funding from this important community partner,” stated Justin Koski, Executive Director. “The Hall of Fame is an excellent place for families to stop to take a break and experience our community. The addition of the Hands-on-Heritage Children’s Exhibit will provide an interactive place for kids to exercise, learn, and play. The goal is to get kids involved and educated about the impact skiing has on our culture.”

Building a new exhibit aims to increase field trip traffic through the museum and offer local schools an excellent option for teaching history about our area and our heritage of outdoor sports. The new display area will benefit the entire community by encouraging people with young children to visit the museum. The Hall of Fame and Museum hopes this grant from The Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation will spur interest in other potential donors in this project to help them reach their complete project goal. With additional funding, they plan to digitize select exhibit components and develop an
accompanying Youth Snowsports Education program for the upcoming 24/25 school year.

Unlike other national Halls of Fame, the U.S. National Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. is not financially supported by dedicated state or federal funding or a national governing body; therefore, it must fundraise to cover all operational expenses.
