Bill Tanler had a forty year career as a ski writer, editor and publisher.  During this time he started a 1/2 dozen publications relating to skiing.  He founded the Northwest Skier and in 1968 started Ski Racing which remains the leading publication in the United States on competitive skiing internationally.  In 1979 he started the Ski Industry Newsletter and Ski Tech  in 1986. 

During the 1960's he was the executive director of SKI magazine and edited both Ski Business and Ski Area Management.  As a journalist he was devoted to ski racing and covered142 World Cup competitions. 

He also founded the Jackson Hole Villager, Warren Miller's Ski Guide, and the New Mexico Skiers Guide.
