Al Halvorson is remembered as one of the pioneers promoting skiing in the north east.  He helped found the US Eastern Amateur Ski Association (USEASA) in 1922 and worked hard to strengthen the association by creating a network of ski clubs.  He was a supporter of junior skiing and helped found the first junior ski club in 1926.  An assistant coach for the Olympic ski team in 1932 he promoted recreational and competitive skiing throughout his life.
