Thor C. Groswold was a competitive skier in Norway who immigrated to the United States in 1923. Through the 1920's and 30's he established himself as a championship skier and also became a top ranking official locally, regionally and nationally.
A pioneer ski manufacturer in America he was involved in many aspects of ski sport. His Groswold Ski company was known across the country supplying skis to Olympic athletes, the 10th Mountain Division and to recreational skiers. He was ever curious and worked constantly to improve skiing equipment.
He was also a co-founder of Arapahoe Ski Basin and instigated the founding of Berthoud Pass and Winter Park in Colorado.
