Bio Content

John Clendenin is a World Freestyle Champion, leader and coach. He inspires others with his Clendenin Ski Method to discover their potential through centered efficient skiing. The inspiration for his teaching method came from years of demonstrating skiing on a Ski Deck, along with training under legendary ski coach Warren Witherell.

Clendenin’s early years of exhibition skiing in Andy Williams Christmas Special in 1966 and Harry Leonard Ski Shows led him into the freestyle scene of the 1970s. He won the World Freestyle Skiing Championships in 1973 and ’74. He continued to lead the way for freestyle skiing as a founder and director of the first sanctioning body of freestyle skiing, the International Freestyle Skiers Association, in 1973.

Clendenin has been featured in many ski films produced by Dick Barrymore, Joe Jay Jalbert and Greg Stump. He has also authored a book on his ski teaching method, “Four Words for Great Skiing,” along with producing several instructional videos.
