Next Generation Snowsports Communications Leader to
Keynote at the 92nd Annual Far West Ski Association Convention
The Far West Ski Association is honored to announce that Samantha DeBoer, Director of Communications for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame & Museum, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Far West Ski Association’s 92nd Annual Convention in Palm Springs, June 12-15.
Samantha’s diverse background and passion for communications make her an integral part of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame team. At the Hall of Fame, Samantha specializes in web page design, social media marketing, donor relations and public relations. She works diligently to enhance the Hall’s presence, engaging with both the community and supporters to promote the legacy of U.S. skiing and snowboarding. Ms. DeBoer will share communication strategies for multiple generations with a backdrop of an insider’s view into the Hall of Fame honored member program, and its importance to the legacy of snowsports.
Samantha has been the Director of Communications of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame & Museum for the past three years. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, she is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She brings a diverse set of skills to her role. Samantha earned a BA in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Grand Valley State University, with a minor in Religious Studies. Her senior project focused on indigenous medicine, showcasing her commitment to understanding diverse perspectives and practices.
Also attending the Convention as a special guest will be Genia Fuller-Crews, international freestyle champion, Board Member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, and founder of “The Women in Snowsports Industry Award,” presented by the International Skiing History Association. Joining as a panelist for the Public Affairs Panel, “Climate Change and the Future of Snowsports,” will be Curtis Shuck, the founder of the Well Done Foundation, while Auden Schendler, Colorado-based climate activist and author, and Erica Flieshman, Director of the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute, will be in attendance virtually. The Snowsports Leadership Academy sessions are specially designed this year for crowd sharing of best practices with past, current and future club leaders, and will provide an outstanding forum to collaborate on challenges and opportunities in club operations.
There are a variety of optional events offered, with some allowing venturing out into the magnificent Coachella Valley, with its desert beauty and vibrant city life. Other programs include the 39th Annual Silent Auction and Snowsports Trade Show with our industry partners, and outstanding volunteers, industry members, clubs and councils will be honored with awards and recognitions.
