Brooks Dodge

Year Inducted: 1978

Born: December 30,1929,      Pinkham Notch, NH

Brooks Dodge grew up near Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire where his father managed the Appalachian Mountain Hut System. He was on his first skis by age two. Growing up skiing and mountain climbing were natural pursuits for him.  His first race was at age seven on the Sherburn Trail that ran from Tuckerman Ravine to Pinkham's Notch.  It was his time spent at Dartmouth College that brought out the latent talent and coordination in him.  This was proven by his performances on the 1950 and 1954 FIS U.S. teams, as well as being on the 1952 and 1956 Winter Olympic U.S. teams.  After retiring from the international ski circuit in 1956, he turned his sights toward ski area development with the venture Wildcat Mountain, New Hampshire.  He also organized charter flights to Europe and was a pioneer in getting skiers to the Bugaboos from 1965 to 1973.
