Ernie Blake will be remembered as the founder and developer of Taos Ski Valley resort, a first class area that attracts skiers from across the United States and around the world. After immigrating to the United States in 1938 he first taught skiing to people on the famous Saks Fifth Avenue trains out of New York on week-ends. He served in U.S. military intelligence during World War Two and after the war moved to New Mexico to run the Santa Fe Ski Area. He also claimed the national title in the veteran's class in the giant slalom in 1955.
