Jake and Donna Burton Carpenter are the first married couple to enter the Hall of Fame simultaneously and the first representatives from snowboarding.  Their vision, determination and commitment brought snowboarding out of the backyards to the resort slopes of the world and ultimately, the Olympics.  The founders and sole owners of Burton Snowboards started the company out of a barn in Manchester, Vermont in 1980 building on the foundation of success Jake had experienced with some of his first snowboards.  Eventually they would set up offices in Japan and Austria.  By the time of their induction half of the people riding the slopes were on snowboards and Burton Snowboards supplied half of that market with boards, clothing and accessories.
