Jean Saubert will be remembered for her double medal performance, a silver and a bronze, at the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck Austria. She was the first skier from her native Oregon to be an Olympic medalist.

During her career she won 8 U.S. national titles and in 1965 tied for first with Marielle Goitschel at the American International Team Races in the slalom. Following the 1966 FIS World Championships she retired to pursue a career in teaching. She served on several USSA committees and was a torchbearer at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.
