John Wictorin immigrated to the United States and contributed 40 years to the development of skiing in the United States.  He was the founder and president of the Swedish Ski Club of New York City.  Regarded as a "fixture" at New York's Bear Mountain he was called "Mr Swix" because of his expertise at ski waxing.  He contributed to the organization at the NSA's conventions in New York City in 1940 and 1954.

He contributed to the popularization of ski touring.  He died unexpectedly in Sweden while on a visit to his home country.
