Pepi Steigler was a silver medal winner at the 1960 Olympic Games in the slalom event. In 1964 he was the Olympic Champion in the slalom and earned a bronze medal in the giant slalom. At both games he competed as a member of the Austrian Olympic Team. Later he competed on the World Pro Tour and then coached the Austrian Ski team.
He founded the ski school at Jackson Hole and served as its director for 29 years. A daughter, Resi Steigler, is a member of the U.S. Ski Team.
