Betsy Snite  (deceased)

Along with Penny Pitou, Betsy Snite was a top American ski racer in the 1950's and 1960's.  She was an Olympic silver medalist in the slalom event in Squaw Valley in 1960.

She won the downhill and combined at the U.S. Eastern Amateur Championships  in 1955 and was a member of two FIS teams and two Olympic teams.  She won the famed Arlberg Kandahar slalom in 1958 and 1959.

She was one of the first women to race on metal skis.  Following retirement she married  Bill Riley of the Mount Mansfield Corporation in Stowe, Vermont and from 1977 until her death was the owner of the Betsy Snite Sports Shop in Stowe.
