Roland Peabody, who was at Peckett's Resort before Sig Buchmayr, was a pioneer in promoting skiing in New Hampshire.  In 1935 he worked with Alec Bright and others to develop the Cannon Mountain Tramway which was the first aerial tramway in the United States.  He became its first manager in 1938, a position he held until his death in 1950.

He promoted ski racing and brought the national championships to Cannon Mountain in the 1946/1947 season.  He was an originator of ski demonstrations at Madison Square Gardens and held PSIA badge #1.
