Merrill "Mezzy" Barber was one of America's best ski jumpers. The winner of the 1952 national championship in the Class A division he was among a select group of three competitors that first broke the 300 foot distance mark in the United states on February 25, 1950. He was a recipient of the Toger Tokle Memorial Award and was an honorary citizen of Norway.
