Stu Campbell  (deceased)

Year Inducted: 2009

Stu Campbell, writer, instructor, resort executive and Renaissance man, has been a tireless advocate of the sport and a profound influence on millions of skiers over a career that has spanned five decades and is staggering in its breadth and diversity. He has authored six books on skiing; been an equipment consultant for some 16 different manufacturers; a racer and race coach; an event organizer; a television commentator and more.

Above all, ski instruction has been the core of his life's work, the foundation on which he built an industry career that touched on every facet of the sport. And as instructor, he has simply been one of the best, as evidenced by numerous peer-reviewed accolades, honors and appointments. Among them: PSIA-East Demo Team, Examiner, Technical Committee (including chairmanship), Precourse Team, Demo Team Coach, Examiner Training Squad Coach and Interski Team. Plenty of lucky learners, especially those at Stowe, Vermont, and Heavenly, California, have had the pleasure and privilege of one-on-one instruction under Stu's guidance.

But it has been through his tireless writing that he has reached his greatest audience. As Instructional Editor of SKI Magazine since 1976, more than 30 years, he reached untold millions of readers with his trenchant, easy-to-understand and effective technique tips.

Stu remains today one of the most widely recognized and admired contributors to the nation's leading ski magazine. The U.S. skiing scene has been lucky to have Stu Campbell.
