E. O. "Buck" Erickson served 35 years as the publicity director for the Pine Mountain ski jumping classic at Iron Mountain, Michigan. He was there from the time of its founding in 1939 until his death in 1974.
It is believed that he had one of the longest careers in the promotion of ski jumping in the United States. He was cited by the Central Ski Association, the U.S. Ski Association and the ski associations of Finland, Norway and Switzerland.
He produced the ski section in The Iron Mountain News which often reached a nation-wide audience. The largest issue was reproduced in the American Ski Annual. He retired after a 38 year career because of a physical disability but was still able to contribute ski jumping reports until his death.
